Best of 2010

It was a pretty good year for new music, though.  Some of my favorite artists released new albums this year (Kylie Minogue and Goldfrapp, to name two).  I've also discovered new ones (iamamiwhoami, even though they started releasing their videos in 2009 they didn't start releasing their singles until this year).  Below is a compilation of the best songs of this year (in my opinion, of course).

The criteria for this was simple - it had to be released this year, in some shape or form - whether on an album, b-side to a single or released online (digital only releases through iTunes or Amazon MP3, for example).  I also had to have liked it and played it all throughout the year.  Some of these have not been posted on the blog yet.  I have included individual links as well as all the songs packed into a zip file (it will show up as a compilation in iTunes).

Links had to be removed.  DMCA notice again.  Sigh.  You can email me if you want a link to the compilation or the tracks that hadn't been featured on the blog until now.  What's really messed up about this is that this time I didn't get an email from them regarding this complaint, so I have no idea which artist triggered the complaint.

Christmas Music

I just posted a bunch of Christmas music.  The music I uploaded last year can be found in the right column under the heading "Christmas Music 2009".

I have some more stuff to post, but I'll post it in the next week or so.

Girls Aloud - Jingle Bell Rock

Here is Girls Aloud's version of "Jingle Bell Rock", of which is on the bonus disc to their album Chemistry.  I don't have the whole EP, but if I do get it I'll post it.

Lady Gaga featuring Space Cowboy - Christmas Tree

Lady Gaga and Space Cowboy collaborated on this racy version of "Christmas Tree", of which was released a couple of years ago.  It's dance pop, of course.

Christina Aguilera - My Kind of Christmas

Way back in the beginning of her career, Christina Aguilera released a Christmas album called My Kind of Christmas.  It was released after her Spanish language album Mi Reflejo.  I don't have the whole album, just some tracks I downloaded last year from a blog that has since shut down.

Kylie Minogue - Let It Snow

Album art made by me

I don't know if this is on sale or not, but I've seen it on two blogs now, and it's Kylie's version of "Let It Snow".  It's a rather traditional rendition of the song - no synths or anything like that.  It's good though - her voice sounds nice.

The Golden Filter - White Nights

Here is a Christmas single from The Golden Filter, called "White Nights".  It's a cover of the song by Psychic TV.  Spooky but good.

Owl City - Peppermint Winter

This is the Christmas single from Owl City.  I've only listened to it once, as I'm not that big on Christmas music, but I liked it.
